unto Mr ROBERT BRACEWELL Eight hundred Acres
of Land in ye upper parrish of Nansimond County, begining
at a marked white oake, and so Runing West North West 320 pools
to a mked pine Standing in a pocosson, and soe South South West
400 pools to a marked white oake and soe East South East 320 pools
to a marked red oake and soe north north East 400 pools (on ye
mile end of ?) his owne Land & JAMES LONGS Land to ye
first Station the said Land being due by and for ye Transport
of Sixteen prsons &c to have and to hold & yeilding
and paying &c Provided &c Dated this 22nd day
of Aprill 1670

Note:
This 800-acres in Nansemond County was near St. Luke's Church. The
Isle of Wight / Nansemond boundary was vague at that time. The grant
was to REV. ROBERT BRACEWELL and was made posthumously, and awarded
a decade later by the Isle of Wight County Escheat Court to his
oldest surviving heir, his daughter, widow JANE STOKES.
To all to whome these prsents shall
come I Sr John Harvey Lt Governr
&c and &c whereas &c NOW KNOW yee that I the said sr
John Harvey Kt doo wth to consent of the Councell
of State accordingly give and grant unto AMBROSE BENNETT three hundred
acres of land Scituate lying and being in the Countie of the Isle
of Wight being bounded betweene two Creekes the one called Reynolds
his Creeke the other being a branch of the said Creeke which Land
runneth into the woods East and by South the said three hundred
acres of land being due unto him the said AMBROSE BENNETT by and
for the transportation at his own prper Cost and charges
of six prsons into this Colony whose names are in the
Records mentoned under this pattent To have and to hold &c dated
the 8th day of day 1638...

UPTON one thousand acres of Land, Scituate lying and being in the
Countie of the Isle of Wight adjoining to the outside of AMBROSE
BENNETTs land lying, Northerly Upon the said branch and five hundred
acres of Land more on the other Side of the Said branch opposite
against the aforesaid Land running Easterly into the woods beginning
at an Indian path which goeth and the head of that branch and runneth
Southerly upwards from the head of the said branch the said fifteene
hundred acres of land being, due unto him the said Leift
JOHN UPTON by and for the transportation of thirty prsons
into this Colony whose names are in the Records mentioned this pattent
To have and to hold &c dated the 10th of November 1638...

one hundred Acres of Land lying in the lower parish of the Isle
of Wight County Beginning at a marked Peckickory joining to the
said POOLS Land, thence runing North 160 poles at a black Oak, thence,
north West and by north 60 Poles to the Land of Mr
ROBERT BRACEWELL thence by the marked trees of the said BRACEWELLS
Land, South Southwest & Southwest and by South 320 poles to
the Corner tree of the said POOLS Land, thence running by the marked
trees of the said POOLS Land to the first station. The said Land
being due by Transportation of two persons &c TO HAVE AND TO
HOLD &C TO BE HELD &C Yielding and paying &c provided
&c Dated the 16th of February 1662—
