To the honourable house of Assembly – In the
State of Tennessee Greeting
Whereas we the underneath Subscribers beg leave
to recommend to Your honourable Body the situation of One of our
Acquaintance Mr. Richard Shields who is lame in one of his Legs
& thighs and is very incapable of walking – Occasioned
by the Rheumatick pains and has a wife and Six or Seven children
to work for and Taxes very high we therefor Join the Request of
our friend Richard Shields and prays Your honourable body will exempt
him from paying Taxes which petition being favoured with the aprobation
of your honourable Body will do much honour to Your humble petitioners
&c –
