Tennessee Legislative Petitions

Tennessee State Legislative Petitions 1799 through 1801, Volume 1 These are the earliest petitions submitted to the state legislature after the State of Tennessee was formed. Many of the petitions were signed by residents requesting that new counties be formed because their homes were too far from the court house. Divorces could only be obtained only by petitioning the state and there were various other reasons to send a petition to the state capitol at Knoxville. See an example. Read a review of this book.
